How it started
RWF came about when one of the founders, Craig Anders, was flying the E-3 AWACS and was hurt. He went from flying a $300M jet to his wife driving him to work. It was crushing and he felt like a burden to society and those around him. The hardest thing for a soldier is to lose the ability to perform their job, taking away they one thing they were trained to do, the one thing they are good at…can tear them apart. Anders, through the support of his family and friends, found that going out and doing adventurous things helped him regain his freedom and independence. His good friend and RWF co-founder, Steve Berger, saw an opportunity to apply this on a larger scale to help even more veterans, which led to them establish the Road Warrior Foundation.

Veteran Adventure therapy since 2013
The Road Warrior Foundation was officially established in December 2013. The focus since the very beginning was finding ways to make a difference for their fellow service members who were injured while serving. Anders and Berger had a vision for an organization that wasn’t a “big business.” They wanted to volunteer their time and energy, and to find a group of other volunteers to join them. The idea was that with little overhead and huge passion, the Foundation could deliver while ensuring that all resources go where they are needed most – directly to veterans.
Our Team
RWF Co-Founder Mr. Anders has more than 14 years professional and military experience. He attended the US Air Force Academy and then began his career in the Air Force flying the mighty E-3 AWACS, eventually transitioning to Aircraft Procurement and Acquisitions for US Special Operations Command.
RWF Co-Founder Stephen Berger joins the Road Warrior Team with 14 years of military and professional experience. He attended the US Air Force Academy going on to become a rescue C-130 pilot with Air Force Special Operations Command. After transitioning from the Air Force, Stephen worked in event production and recently Stephen made a move into the insurance industry and opened a Farmers Insurance Agency in Pittsburgh.
Meet Kendell Madden, the adventure junkie and powersports enthusiast who brings his A-game to the Road Warrior Foundation (RWF). Kendell served with the 17th Special Operations Squadron in the US Air Force, so he knows a thing or two about high-octane action. When he’s not wrangling up connections in Austin, TX, he’s probably getting outpaced by his wife and two boys or trying to convince everyone that building a 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu program is as cool as it sounds. He’s a die-hard fan of anything that goes vroom and firmly believes that North American-made products are the best (sorry, not sorry). Kendell’s mission? To make sure veterans have the most epic, adrenaline-pumping experiences ever, living up to the wild spirit of the Road Warrior Foundation.
Mr. Baxley joins the joins Road Warrior Foundation as an Alumni rider from 2015 with over 12 years of military and professional experience. Jason is a Retired US Army Sergeant First Class who served in the reconnaissance field of operations for over 10 years with multiple overseas combat rotations. After Retiring from service Jason became a Realtor, co-founding Prime Real Estate of Keller Williams Mountain Partners in Hendersonville, NC. Jason also has a passion for welding and metal fabrication.
Mr. Moser is a Marine Corps veteran who joins Road Warrior Foundation as an Alumni rider from 2019. Since his first ride, Matt cemented his place with Road Warrior Foundation during a birthday fundraiser, in which he shaved off his beard and donated 12 » of hair in the form of a mullet to an organization that makes wigs for children with hair loss (the child did not have to wear it as a mullet). When not volunteering his time to the foundation, Matt can probably be found traveling the country, flying drones, or jumping out of planes as an avid skydiver.
Brian is a marketing guy who has worked with some of the world’s top brands throughout his 20+ year career. His passion for adventure and the outdoors carries over into the Road Warrior Foundation, where he has been on the Board of Directors since 2019. Brian is an avid rider/driver of, well, anything with an engine, and when he’s not out exploring the world, he lives in the foothills outside of Denver, CO, with his wife and two daughters.
