2017 Road Warrior Ride - Final Post

The 2017 Road Warrior Ride powered by Can-Am is officially complete. It was a great event filled with wonderful memories from the road, including a huge welcome reception in Charleston, SC, last night.

The 2,000-mile adventure introduced some awesome veterans to the Can-Am Spyder lifestyle. Simply put, they couldn’t get enough. In fact, several are planning to purchase a Spyder after this experience. (who can blame them?!)

A big thanks to everyone who helped the Road Warrior Foundation and Can-Am make this happen — the Spyder owners groups and dealers who helped, the donors, the support staff and everybody else who participated in some way, whether with us on the road or following the adventure online.

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Day 5

What a day! 42 degrees doesn’t slow this group of Spyder riders down. We took off bright and early out of Pigeon Forge and headed into the mountains.

We rode the Cherahola Parkway and enjoyed every curve for the nearly 60 miles. If you haven’t been there, go check it out.

When we came out of the mountains and entered Georgia we had a perfect police escort. At the front? A Spyder F3-P. We rode with him for about 35 miles. What a sight.

Our final destination was Woodstock, GA, and the town rolled out the red carpet for us. Thanks to all involved! Now on to Charleston...

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Day 4

Parades, mayors, veterans, police escorts and more Spyder owners. What a day!

We hit the road out of Mississippi and headed to Birmingham, Alabama. Along the way, we picked up 50+ additional riders that helped escort the group of Road Warrior Riders.

One of the highlights was the police escorts we received along the way. It’s an entirely new type of ride when you’re behind the flashing lights with 80 riders.

Another highlight? Visiting the world famous Barber Motorsport Park and getting to take a few laps on the Moro GP track. Simply incredible.

Thank you to all of the Heart of Dixie Spyder Ryders who helped organize the day and the incredible reception in Alabama.

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Day 3

On the road again!

It feels great to be back on the road. We dusted the dirt off the Spyders — and riders — from the off-road Park and headed out to continue our cross-country quest.

Have you ever been part of a 2,000-mile Spyder ride with 30+ riders? Even in our fourth year, it’s a unique and rewarding experience every time.

During this last leg, we enjoyed the scenery as we rode out of Texas, through Louisiana and into Mississippi. Now we’re in the Delta hanging out, eating great food and relaxing like old friends. The team is bonding and we are really seeing them come to life.

Next up: Alabama. We know they’ll treat us right and have some big surprises in order for the riders. A special thanks to all the Spyder owners, dealers and supporters who’ve helped us yet again on this journey.

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Day 2

Today we spent time as a group riding Can-Am off-road vehicles at Sabine Off-Road Park in Eastern Texas. It was incredible.

The Road Warrior Ride is typically a precision operation. We have call times, ride times and down times. This was a bit different, though. It was off script and a great day to relax and refocus before hitting the road again. We all had a blast.

Regardless of what we’re doing, we’re Spending time together as a group and enjoying the adventure. The community of Spyder riders and supporters is right here with us for it all.

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Day 1

The first day on the open road was filled with great Texas roads, great machines and great people. The camaraderie in the group is growing and we can already tell it's going to be an incredible 2017 Road Warrior Ride.

This event is all about providing "adventure therapy," and let's be honest, is there any better kind? We get veterans out of an all-too-often funk and show them the incredible healing power of the open road.

We rode about 250 smile-filled miles yesterday so we're about 1/8th through the journey to Charleston at the end of the week.

Today we're taking a day off from riding on the road. Don't fret, though, we'll be playing in the mud and trails riding Can-Am ATVs and side-by-side vehicles.

2017 Road Warrior Ride - Training Day

It’s that time of year again when we head out on the annual Road Warrior Ride powered by Can-Am Spyder. It's an amazing experience giving a group of extremely deserving military veterans an experience of a lifetime.

Most of the riders this year have little riding experience, which is by design. It’s a Spyder thing. Riders of all skill levels can ride with confidence while experiencing the wind-in-the-face freedom of the open road. It's "adventure therapy" in the truest form.

We started out today at Wood’s Fun Center in Austin, TX, where we gave an in-depth group riding tutorial for our 2,000+ mile journey from Austin to Charleston, SC. After that we hit the road for a practice run to beautiful Lake Travis, enjoying some of the best roads and scenery in the area.

We have more than 30 people with us to start the ride, all riding Spyders, and more are sure to join throughout. Check out the Can-Am Spyder and Road Warrior Facebook and Instagram pages for real-time updates throughout the ride.
